All the way from Germany and now in a Walgreens near you, Katjes Gummies are officially sold in the US!
Founded in 1950 in the Netherlands, “Katjes” was coined after the Dutch word for kittens and favoring the black licorice kitties the brand still makes today. In 2016 Katjes went plant-based, exchanging all animal-derived gelatin for vegan-friendly counterparts, such as pectin.
Three different types of Katjes gummies are now being sold in US Walgreens stores, and all are vegan! The US recipe is made with plant and algae-derived colors, carnauba wax in place of beeswax, and NO palm oil.
Made exclusively for the US launch, Katjes “Love and Stars” Gummy Candy is shaped like unicorns, stars, and hearts! Flavored with cherry, strawberry, orange, and colored in red, white, and blue to honor our flag. A perfect Independence Day treat!
Katjes included “Rainbow” Gummy Candy in their US release, proudly sharing the belief that “love is love”. Shaped like unicorns, rainbows, the word “LOVE”, and colored in ROYGBIV. Katjes Rainbow candy is flavored with blueberry, cherry, orange, and strawberry and is perfect for post Pride and every day.
Lastly is my favorite of the three, Katjes Sour Gummy Candy. The sour variety is shaped like rainbows, unicorns, stars, and fairies! Dusted in sparkly sugar, these shapes are flavored as orange, lime, passion fruit, raspberry, and black currant and really pack a punch.
I picked my candy up curbside from Walgreens, and urge you to check their website to find Katjes in a store near you! Which variety would you choose?
