Vegan creator and recipe developer “Vegan Dollhouse” teamed up with Fair Oaks’ Lady Bird Tea House to host an afternoon tea party pop-up, with a portion of the proceeds supporting the local sanctuary “Odd Bird Rescue.”
I attended the first of what I presume will be many Vegan Dollhouse x Lady Bird Tea House parties and left pleasantly full and dreaming of the next.
The tea party pop-up was hosted at Lady Bird Tea House, a historic Fair Oaks venue and vintage clubhouse. Lady Bird offered a selection of curated teas thoughtfully paired with the Vegan Dollhouse menu, and we dined on over 10 sweet and savory plant-based bites. The best part? You can find almost all of the recipes used at the tea party at VeganDollhouse.com.
Lady Bird provided a curated selection of premium teas, including floral, herbal, and classic black blends. The tea was served with dairy-free creamer and vegan sugar cubes dyed pink and shaped like hearts and gummy bears!

I chose the Purple Punch! It was a delightful, citrus-forward blend that even changed color when the vegan creamer was added. It even matched Vegan Dollhouse’s hair- purple and teal!
Vegan Dollhouse created a menu that was equal parts sweet and savory. These bites were tasty, satisfying, and, of course, cute.
My favorite was definitely the Pizza Biscuits! They were the perfect size for snacking, and I can see them being a great appetizer for my own entertaining, paired with dipping sauces like vegan ranch and marinara. Forget pizza bread! It’s all about snackable pizza stars!
I also loved the pâté sandwiches and the versatility of the fillings. The pâté could easily double as a dip or be thinned for a pasta sauce. Both were unique: the Pea & Mint was lightly sweet, while the Artichoke & Bean was more earthy.
I will definitely recreate the tofu ham from the Ham & Cheese Sandwiches at home, because that stuff is TASTY! Smoky, salty, and tofu- the best!
The Sausage Roll and Cucumber Sandwiches were delectable vegan versions of tea party staples, and I took home extra rolls that I ate way too many of on the way home.

Vegan Dollhouse outdid herself with dessert! From rich chocolate to tart fruit, all the sweet treat bases were covered.
My favorites among the sweet variety were the British Scones and the Petite Four. The scone wasn’t too sweet and was served like a shortbread with vegan clotted cream and jam. The petite four reminded me of a Kit Kat bar but with white chocolate. I hope she adds this recipe to her website soon!
The Mint Cookies and Cream Cake and the Chocolate Mousse Bite are very chocolatey. I liked both, but because of the chocolate richness in both desserts, I’d personally eat them on their own rather than pair them with other desserts. Sometimes chocolate can send me into sweetness overload!
Hello Kitty makes a very cute Peanut Butter Cup, and these were YUMMY! Salty peanut butter and sweet vegan chocolate, the combination is a classic for a reason, and these were the perfect size for enjoying with other treats.
The Lemon Tartlet perfectly contrasted with the chocolate dishes. Instead of decadent and rich, it was light, tart, and tangy, topped with fresh whipped cream that was fluffy and sweet.
The first Vegan Tea Party Pop-Up cost $65. I found the price was worth it for the quality of food and tea, as well as the experience and knowing it benefited an animal sanctuary. We also had plenty of food, and many took home some of their treats in to-go containers.
While wait to see if another tea party is in the works, you can find Lady Bird’s tea blends, Vegan Dollhouse’s treats, and even some friends from Odd Bird Rescue at the Vegan “Tricks and Treats Halloween Market” on Sunday, October 4th. More information on the market can be found below.

Lady Bird Tea House owner Mai Linh is also the founder of “Odd Bird Rescue,” a farm bird sanctuary in Fair Oaks, California.
I learned that dumping chickens (mainly roosters/males) is common in Fair Oaks, despite the fine for doing so (up to $36,000*).1 Because of this, chickens freely roam the city and find shelter wherever they feel safe. In 2020, free-range chickens left orphaned chicks on Mai Linh’s porch, and Odd Bird Rescue was born.
Now, Mai Linh cares for flocks of chickens at Odd Bird Rescue, and with our support, she can continue.

Vegan Dollhouse is a vegan creator and recipe developer that I am lucky enough to call a friend. We met in a creator group chat and realized we didn’t live too far from each other. The rest is herstory!
Robin, the creator of “Vegan Dollhouse“, has been vegan for over 27 years and has been sharing her recipes for almost as long. She makes cute, colorful vegan food with organic ingredients, and her recipes range from baked goods to tofu ham. I trust her recipes, and one of my favorites is her Detroit-style pizza.
