Ok so pink shoes with a “vegan” sole? Obviously, I am in!

Superdry describes their brand as vintage Americana meets Japanese-inspired graphics, with a British style. With stores in 46 countries and selling in over 100, Superdry has grown a massive following. I became interested in Superdry after learning of their initiative to be the most sustainable global fashion brand by 2030. That is an incredible goal and I hope it leads to an impacted change in the fashion industry as a whole.

Superdry‘s newest trainers are certified vegan by the Vegan Society and feature “vegan” soles, furthering their mission to decrease their (and our) environmental footprint. You might be like, “wait, aren’t most shoes vegan?”. While many shoes are vegan because they are made of synthetic materials, many are also made from animal materials like leather, suede, wool, and even use animal-based glue. That is why it is exciting (and perhaps necessary) to have checks and inspections of the materials used during production. In this case, the vegan leather used is certified as a synthetic material and the glue is water-based.

While my trainers are pink and high-top, Superdry has a selection of colors in both high and low-top styles, to fit any aesthetic. They are true to size and fit comfortably. They are made to allow your feet to breathe, with a padded high top. The top sits a little loose, while still providing support. The trainers I chose showcase vegan leather of light pink and soft white, with minor gold detailing that I just couldn’t resist! They’re styled after a classic basketball high-top trainer but made to step into a plant-based future.

I can’t wait to wear mine to the beach or on a damp day so that I can leave a little message with my footprints! This way when I’m not telling everyone I’m vegan, they’ll still know.
