Ice cream is great, but ice cream cones are better!
I love tasting something for the first time, but experiencing nostalgia. That’s something so powerful about food and memories. One bite of this ice cream has me transported to a summer day in the 90’s, enjoying the then-one and only drumstick-style, ice cream cone on the market. Now as an adult approaching a milestone birthday, I can enjoy the same satisfaction, elevated by an allergy-free frozen dessert.
Jolly Llama offers an assortment of handheld desserts, that are vegan, gluten-free, and non-GMO. Founded in Santa Monica, California, Jolly Llama ice cream cones, are now sold alongside the original sorbet pops in various supermarkets. Available in both Caramel Chocolate Chip and Vanilla Fudge Sundae flavors, the ice cream cones are the newest addition to their line. While our local Sprouts store does carry both flavors, I’ve only ever had the opportunity to try the Caramel Chocolate Chip.
The ice cream is pillowy soft, and reminiscent of chocolate mousse. Swirls of caramel sauce and dairy-free chocolate fudge, are combined with mini chocolate chips for added texture and crunch. The best part of all, however, may be the fudge-lined gluten-free cone! Chocolate fudge and crunchy cones just pair so perfectly together, and I have not found a vegan option that is comparable to the leading brands, until now!
Props for the packaging of this product too! You can recycle the box, and store or pack the cones on their own, due to their being individually wrapped in paper. Hello, easy picnic dessert!
I found my Jolly Llama goods at Sprouts, which is currently the only location to carry the product locally. If you’re not local, use the product location feature on Jolly Llama’s website to find their treats near you!
While the heat of summer may not be something that brings me joy, frozen treats surely do! Are you ready for ice cream weather?
