Today El Pollo Loco officially launched vegan tacos and burritos at ALL of their locations!

Chickenless menu items at a chicken restaurant? YUP!

In February the restaurant launched the menu items as plant-based, but the meat substitute was simmered in an egg sauce (proving that their development team is a little LOCO if you ask me)!

They quickly changed the recipe in a matter of months, and now we can order certified vegan menu items WITHOUT the need for customizations! I had to try both the Chickenless Pollo Burrito and the Chickenless Pollo Taco, though I typically have a preference of one over the other!

Care to guess which I favor? 🌯 v. 🌮

The “Chickenless Pollo” has a nice texture similar to traditional soy-based protein strips. The egg-free adobo sauce stands out as the overall flavor of both the burrito and taco. It’s more sweet than spicy, so don’t let a fear of heat keep you for trying it!

Most of the sides at El Pollo Loco are vegan friendly, including the Chips and Guacamole, Seasoned Rice, Black Beans, and Pinto Beans.

What can I say, it was a Fiesta Friday!

I am always SO EXCITED when a massive chain restaurant like El Pollo adds plant-based items to their menu. It proves this is future!
