Life is busy and I am lazy, so Sprouts’ Deli vegan dishes are a saving grace.
I recently found that the Sprouts Deli no longer had the Vegan Buffalo Chicken Pasta Salad I previously posted and raved about. However, they have replaced this dish with several new vegan heat-and-eat options, so I will let it slide. This past week Sprouts had a BOGO deal for their deli, where you could buy one get one 50% off, so I picked out two new dishes to try and was beyond pleased with both.
Sprouts Farmer’s Market is a beacon of new and hot vegan finds, so the inclusion of more vegan deli items was bound to occur. The new dishes I found to try are “Vegan Fusilli with Cashew Cream” and “Buddha Bowl with Korean Rice Cakes“. They come refrigerated, and in less than 5 minutes in the microwave, both dishes are ready to enjoy.
I’d say the Fusilli with Cashew Cream tastes seasonal. It has warm notes suited for fall. The dish features tender fusilli pasta, enveloped in a creamy, buttery, and nutty sauce. The pasta is complemented by the addition of rich and firm kale, along with whole roasted garlic cloves that add a flavorful bite. The flavors of fall are cemented with the inclusion of savory sweet chunks of butternut squash, making this a filling meal or perfect seasonal side.
The Buddha Bowl with Rice Cakes was an unexpected favorite. I loved the complexity in texture and flavor, and of course, the inclusion of tofu! This dish was a tad spicy but not too much, so even my sissy palate could handle it. This dish starts with a bed of rice and farro blend that is firm and hearty. The next layer is a mix of firm diced tofu, marinated sweet potato pieces, sticky and spicy Korean rice cakes, and roasted garlic green beans. The dish is topped with green onions, sesame seeds, and the included dressing. The dressing has notes of miso, ginger, garlic, and added spice. I am a tofu girlie, but the rice cakes may be my favorite part of this meal. They are sticky and chewy, and coated in a sweet and spicy sauce. Overall the Buddha Bowl was delicious and made for an easy and satisfying lunch mid-workday. I will definitely be getting this again.
While the Sprouts Deli can be a bit pricey, it definitely beats those last-minute delivery fees when I’m in a pinch. Especially when they offer BOGO! In addition to the meals I picked up, I saw a “Thai Spicy Noodles” dish and even a “Spaghetti Squash with Bolognese and Cashew Ricotta“. Have you tried the new vegan deli dishes from Sprouts? Which sounds most appealing to you?
