Killer Sweets just dropped vegan donuts, and I tried every flavor!

Vegan donuts sold locally are something we’ve been waiting for. While I’m told patience is a virtue, it’s not one I have, but these donuts were worth the wait!
You can find my prior post on Killer Sweets here, but as a recap, Killer Sweets is a cottage bakery in Modesto that offers orders for pick-up, attends local pop-ups, and supplies local cafes and restaurants with desserts. They offer devilishly delicious baked treats and specialize in gluten-free and vegan desserts. While not everything they create is vegan, there are always options for us on their seasonal menu, which rotates monthly.
Killer Sweets April menu included 2 items I was excited to try, Lemon-Poppyseed Muffins and VEGAN DONUTS! Both can be ordered gluten-free, but I opted for just the vegan versions this round. I received a half-dozen muffins for $15 and a dozen donuts for $19.
The muffins are HUGE, Costco-sized, if you will. Soft, fluffy, but not overly moist, with a tangy zing from lemon icing. I LOVE them, and they were my mom’s favorite of the lot. My favorite would have to be the vegan donuts. While early awaited, they are also so TASTY! Killer Sweets‘ donuts are baked, not fried, so, in addition to being soft and moist, they stay fresh longer than fried ones and can even be enjoyed the next day (I can attest).
I wanted any and all flavors, so I was offered the option to taste-test 6 different donut flavors: Chocolate Glazed with Sprinkles, Cinnamon Sugar, Double Chocolate (choc donut + frosting), Powdered Sugar, Double Matcha (matcha donut + glaze), and Lemon Poppyseed. I am a huge fan of classic flavors, and that is not different here. My top favorites are the chocolate sprinkle donut and cinnamon-sugar! As a kid, sugar donuts and maple donuts were my favorite, and as an adult, that stands.
The chocolate sprinkle donut is the perfect iteration of a donut- soft, sweet, chocolatey, and fun! The cinnamon sugar donuts are nostalgic, sweet, airy, and remind me of the “crumb” donuts you find pre-packaged in stores. The same goes for the powdered donuts! While a little denser, I found these to taste just like the powdered donuts I remember.
Double chocolate is like a donut-brownie hybrid that is fudgy and decadent, and the double matcha is sweet and earthy, with a fresh and springy flavor. The lemon poppy-seed is a lighter, airier take on the poppyseed muffin, with a zesty lemon glaze. Each flavor is delicious in its own right, but I am a fan of the classics!
