A spooky immersive experience filled with whimsy, hidden secrets, uncensored lore, and a twisted tea party celebration with post-haunt vegan sustenance, all within a haunted home in San Francisco.
Located in the Sunset district of San Francisco is the “Gregangelo Museum“, a home, museum, city landmark, and recognized legacy business. The landmark is not only a museum but also the private home of Gregangelo Herrera, a visual and performing artist, as well as the headquarters for his entertainment company, Velocity Arts & Entertainment. The 1920s home’s interior is filled with treasures from world travels. It is covered in oddities and embellishments collected over four decades (some of which include taxidermy animals hidden amongst the decor, so be warned). The museum does not have open hours; instead, it offers interactive experiences that must be booked in advance. You can choose your own adventure from year-round escapes, including the outdoor “Riddle of the Sphinx “ tour, indoor “Down the Rabbit Hole” tour, children’s “Enchanted Fairy Garden” tour, and so many more!
I attended the “Haunted Dollhouse” tour, where we uncovered clues, treasures, and secret passages, all while touring the decorated museum and learning about the mysterious paranormal activity within the home. The experience lasted about 2 hours and included full interactivity, raunchy jokes, and inner-child connection. It ended with a silly tea party featuring vegan treats sourced from my friend and vegan recipe developer, Robin of Vegan Dollhouse! We hunted by flashlight for keys to unlock hidden haunts, met paranormal clowns, dolls, and my favorite of all, the bear named Mr. Bing Bing! He is a haunted teddy bear that, in years past, was used to add charm to a motel check-in station. However, when no one but Mr. Bing Bing was present, you could hear the check-in bell ring. Spooky! I think Mr. Bing Bing is more attention-seeking than playing scary tricks, and for that, I love him.
While this tour is featured for spooky season, it is available year-round and can be modified or customized upon request. The Haunted Doll House Tour is currently only available on Sundays. It is curated for ages 16 and up and includes mixed groups.1 Robin and I were guests of the tour, but were joined by ticket holders for the experience. We didn’t look into details prior to attending, as we wanted to be surprised, but did take note to dress for the occasion. Costumes are encouraged, and make for the best photos! Knowing what to expect, I think it might be fun to bring your own childhood companion as your tour and tea party buddy, rather than selecting one for play upon arrival. When’s the last time you played with them anyway? Tickets are priced at $115 per guest and include the tour and tea party. The museum is in a home located in a nice neighborhood with free street parking. If you’re looking for something spooky or mysterious to do in San Francisco, the Greganelo Museum’s selection of tours offers unforgettably unique experiences.
Have you ever had any paranormal experiences? I haven’t, but I keep trying to place myself in suspect situations, so here’s hoping!
