‘Sweet Remix‘ locally spun, vegan cotton candy!
Whether you call it “Fairy Floss” or “Cotton Candy,” it’s been a nostalgic favorite since its debut in 1904. The first commercial cotton candy traces back to 1904 at the first ever World’s Fair, where a confectioner and Dentist teamed up to bring the treat to the masses. In 2025, Bless from Sweet-Remix is bringing the 209 its first woman-owned, organic, kosher, vegan, and artificial-free cotton candy!
Named after Bless’ “Sweet Remix” of flavors and mid-life switch-up, her cotton candy “brings the magic without the mystery ingredients.” She founded Sweet Remix this year, after leaving 17 years in special education. Why? Because cotton candy is JOY, and she wants to spin that sh*t everywhere. Cotton candy is a treat we all remember a moment with, it could be at a fair, an amusement park, a festival, wherever it was, there was joy. That joy used to come with the cost of unknown ingredients such as ‘artificial flavors’, ‘artificial dyes’, and sugar filtered with animal bone char. With Sweet Remix, the ingredients are clean, so you can snack freely (get it?).
I was able to try Sweet Remix Cotton Candy both at home (with pre-ordered tubs for the 4th of July) and at Pilates Brunch Club, where I got to see Bless’ spinning in action, and savor a big hunk of fluff on the spot. So far, I have tried: Watermelon, Marshmallow, Strawberry, Cherry-Champagne, and Banana. They’re all tasty, with pungent flavors, but the Banana is by far my favorite. I LOVE banana flavor! However, the Marshmallow and Cherry-Champagne are close seconds. The Marshmallow is her most popular flavor, and after a taste, you’ll be a fan too. The Cherry-Champagne is one of the ‘remixed’ flavors, combining two flavors of spinning sugar. The result is like a juicy cherry plopped into a dry Brut- perfection. Speaking of plopping into bubbly, Sweet Remix doesn’t just make cotton candy for your events, but ‘Glitter Bombs’ too! The first time I tried Sweet Remix was at an event featuring her Glitter Bombs- a cotton candy fluff ball filled with edible glitter that you can add to any beverage to make it sweeter and more glam.
Want to try Sweet Remix Cotton Candy? Send her a DM for a custom order bundle, and follow her on Instagram for upcoming events. We will both be at Bizerkeley Food Fest, Sunday, September 7th, at the North Berkeley BART Station. It’s an all-vegan food festival with plenty of entertainment, free entry, and goes from 12-6 PM. Then we will both be at The Queen Bean on September 27th for Sweet Remix’s new endeavor- ‘Her Hour’ from 5-8 PM. Bless is channeling her dance instructor roots with “Her Hour,” a late-afternoon escape for women to gather, dance, socialize, shop select vendors, all well before bedtime. Your first beverage of choice is on the house. Hope to see you!
