‘Piggybacking’ off my last post is another UK favorite that’s vegan and now in the US- Percy Pig Gummy Candy! (‘piggy-backing’ get it?)
Percy Pig was initially created in 1992 by Katjes for Marks & Spencer, a British big box store similar to Target and Walmart. In 2019, the candy line-up removed the pig product from the candy, aka gelatin, and in 2022, removed beeswax, making the line fully vegan! Percy Pig gummies are made with real fruit juice and contain no artificial flavors, colors, or ingredients. Now, Percy Pig has made his way overseas, and you can find the candy in Target stores (and from various online retailers).
These gummies are unlike those we typically find on shelves. Rather than just chewy, the pig shape is spongy- almost marshmallowy- with a burst of berry fruit flavor. The pigs have different colored pink-tinted ears, which I am assuming represent one of the mixed flavors (but this is purely speculation after reading too many online articles on Percy).
Percy has become an icon overseas and has merchandise from bedding to nail polish, bubble bath, and more! While we may be limited on the different Percy Pig candies available in the US, there are over 10 varieties in the UK, including specialties for holidays. I am hopeful Percy will make his mark here too, so we can get in on all the fun Percy merch!
You can find Percy Pig Gummy Candy at your local Target for $3.99 a bag, but with the current boycotts, I found some online retailers that also carry line, including; Candy Warehouse, TikTok Shop, British Essentials, and Amazon.
Have you tried these or a different gummy that is more spongy than chewy?
