A few months back you may remember my mentioning a local baker working on her vegan donut business. I posted the treats to my story as a teaser, as I was gifted a box to sample. The business is now fully up and running, and organic vegan donuts are finally within our reach! Available for pre-order or at local pop-ups, Lovegan Organic Donuts is the newest vegan business to hit Modesto and the Central Valley. I have no doubt this business will be successful, as the number one question I am asked is “where can I find vegan donuts?” I am so happy to officially have a local answer for you, that is not only delicious but her specialty.
On Friday I had the most incredible delivery of 2 dozen donuts from Lovegan Organic Donuts, including 4 of each flavor. I shared with my family, but will admit I ate more than my fair share! The flavors included were; Matcha & Coconut, Chocolate & Hazelnut, Maple & Sea Salt, Pink Vanilla Frosting & Sprinkles, Glazed, and Cinnamon & Sugar.
While every single donut was absolutely delicious, my overall favorites are the Maple & Sea Salt, and Pink Vanilla Frosting with Sprinkles. All of the donuts are spongey and sweet, each with its own subtle differences. I love the Pink Vanilla with Sprinkles, obviously because it’s pink, but also because it reminds me of the Homer Simpson donut (DOH!). It is the nostalgic donut image that comes to mind, and the flavor is sweet and simple. Maple has always been my donut of choice, but Lovegan’s addition of sea salt really elevates the flavor and adds some bite. With Lovegan Organic Donuts you are getting hand-crafted, elevated versions of the classic donut flavors you remember, from a passionate vegan baker.
This Saturday, November 27th, Lovegan Organic Donuts will be at Deva Cafe for Small Business Saturday! Pop in for a vegan donut, and some locally made giftable items from The Maker’s Market, from 5pm-7pm
