Plantspired makes take-out, fake-out, tastier, better for you, more affordable, and of course, plant-based!
Nasoya has been known for its tofu supply since 1978, and is America’s #1 brand of tofu. But they’ve been pumping out all sorts of vegan products for the last few years, including dumplings, kimchi, noodles, and their meal solutions called ‘Plantspired’. Plantspired is a line of soy-based heat-and-eat mains like vegan chicken, beef strips, baked tofu, and marinated tofu ‘tossables’ that take less than 3 minutes to cook, and are loaded with 22 grams of protein per serving.
Nasoya launched this line with the sole purpose of getting you “Plantspired“- inspired by plants. Simply select your Plantspired main, add veggies and/or grains, and in minutes you have a meatless meal that satisfies. Of the two I tried, my favorite was the Plantspired Honey Garlic Chick’n (bee-free of course). The sauce has a sweet and savory flavor that reminds me of my favorite Chinese food staple-(vegan) sesame chicken. The chick’n is tender and crispy on the outside, and because the pieces are smaller in portion, there is no fatty texture like with some chicken alternatives. The Plantspired Kung Pao Chick’n is just as yummy, but I have a sissy palate and even the milder hot sauce is a bit too much for me. The sauce has a lightly sweet flavor with a smoky heat and peppery finish. Perfect for those who want a kick! (Want the Ingredients? Find them at the bottom of this post.
I called my meal “take out fake out” because that is truly what my tastebuds acknowledged, and with staples on hand like rice and broccoli, I could plate this quickly and without breaking the bank on delivery fees. Groceries are more expensive than ever right now, so finding ways to save while eating plant-based convenience foods is a win (I remember when tofu was never more than $2- crying). I found both varieties at my local Raley’s for around $7 each. Each package comes with 2 servings, which, when eyeballed, seem small, but after I paired it with rice and veggies, I surprisingly had leftovers.

While I picked up the two varieties of Plantspired’s Chick’n mains at Raley’s, many local stores carry this line and more from Nasoya, including Target, Walmart, Safeway, and Save Mart. Visit Nasoya’s ‘Where to Buy’ section on their website and use their location finder to see which stores near you carry which products before you shop! Is there a product you’re aiming to find? I want to try the tofu ‘tossables’ next!
