Vegan piggy bao! Lypid Kitchen is whipping up “Dim sum, so yum—where comfort food gets a plant-based glow-up!“

Lypid Kitchen offered to send me their debut product- Plant-Based BBQ Pork Bao, and I couldn’t resist. Vegan, handmade, cholesterol and preservative free, these bao are almost too cute to eat!

Lypid Kitchen is a subsidiary of the company Lypid, which developed “PhytoFat™,” a proprietary line of plant-based fats. Their PhytoFat™ is showcased in the buttery mouthfeel of the Lypid Kitchen piggy bao filling and Lypid brand products like plant-based bacon and pork belly. Based out of San Francisco and run by a small team, Lypid Kitchen is bound to make waves in the plant-based space.

Their piggy bao may be one of my new favorite snacks. The sweet white dough is fluffy and soft, enveloping barbecue plant-based pork that is buttery, fatty, sweet, and umami! There is more dough-to-filling ratio, but I’m not complaining- that’s my favorite way to enjoy bao. These are also perfectly seasoned as-is and don’t require any extra sauce unless you wanna go piggy-dippin’!

I was introduced to Lypid Kitchen on Instagram, where they shared their catering experience for the Moana 2 world premiere in Hawaii! What a debut! Now you can order from LypidKitchen.com for delivery straight to your door. They do weekly “drops” and ship all orders on the same date to preserve quality and freshness. While Lypid Kitchen Plant-Based Piggy Baos are not yet available in store, I have no doubt we can soon expect to see them in chain stores like Sprouts and independent vegan grocers like Urthly Market and Besties.
