Vegan Advent Calendars
SANTA! I know him, and he is comin’ to town! Let’s count down his long-anticipated arrival with a vegan advent calendar!
Advent calendar customs differ from one culture to the next, and no longer only hold religious significance. The traditional Christmas advent calendar of my youth is intended to count down the days to Christmas, and as an added bonus can keep children from asking every single day when Santa will arrive. Today there are so many varieties of advent calendars, from candy to beauty, to socks, to toys! We are lucky enough to live in a time where even vegan chocolate advent calendars exist, and for that I am grateful!
This year I purchased my own advent calendar in addition to being gifted, so I have three to share! One is available in local stores, and two are available online directly from the company and even Amazon.com
You may remember the Divine Dark Chocolate Advent Calendar from my post last year. This calendar is readily available at local Cost Plus World Markets, or directly from DivineChocolateUSA.com. Divine’s Dark Chocolate Advent Calendar is made with fair trade cocoa from Ghana and is labeled vegan. Each window holds a small piece of dark chocolate decorated with a forest animal, and each window lists a fact about cocoa. I picked mine up from World Market.
Next up is No Whey! No Whey makes a vegan advent calendar that is free from the 8 most common allergens and mimics milk chocolate. Each window of the calendar holds a Christmas-shaped piece of chocolate, such as an ornament or tree. You can find No Whey Vegan Advent Calendars at NoWheyChocolate.com or in their Amazon shop!
Lastly is Moo Free, a UK-based vegan chocolatier! Moo Free makes a Rainforest Alliance certified, ‘milk’ chocolate alternative advent calendar that is available to American buyers via Amazon.com. This calendar is vegan, gluten-free, and soy-free! You will find this calendar is priced higher on Amazon than Moo Free’s website, but it does not include the high shipping cost from the UK!
Did you pick up an advent calendar this year? I gifted my mother the coveted Bonne Maman jam advent calendar, and my nephew a hot sauce calendar! It is wild how many varieties exist now, but I’m not complaining!
