The UK-based company No Meat is now available at US Walmart stores! LIVEKINDLY Collective acquired the No Meat Company in 2021 to add to their ever-growing portfolio of plant-based food brands, and are now bringing No Meat’s plant-based products to the American market.
I picked up the two frozen No Meat products available at my local Walmart: No Bull Mushroom Steaks and No Bull Ground (soy protein crumbles). I have browsed online and each Walmart seems to be receiving different products, which I find exciting! The Stockton Walmart appears to have No Meat Porkies Sausage Rolls, which I have always been curious about. They have so many interesting foods overseas!
For review, I sizzled up my No Meat Mushroom Steaks and served alongside homemade mashed potatoes with Primal Kitchen Mushroom Gravy, and frozen sweet peas. I love that these mushroom steaks are actually formed to mimic the shape of beef steaks. I found the No Meat Mushroom Steaks to have a similar mouthfeel and texture to jackfruit. They are meaty, salty, and smoky, but I don’t think you’d mistake this for beef steak. While it provides the satisfaction of meat, it has an overall mushroom flavor that is unique. I think this is a neat alternative to portabello mushroom steaks and is great for those transitioning their plate to plant-based. I have also not seen a comparable product on shelves, so this is major in terms of the vegan movement.
Whether you’re looking for a meat alternative to make easy, familiar meals or an alternative to steak for date night, I think you’ll do alright with No Meat’s No Bull Mushroom Steaks! I plan to try my No Bull Ground this week, but am unsure if I want to make breakfast burritos, taco bowls, or even lasagna! What do you think I should try? Stay tuned to my stories to see how I use it!
