On October 24th, Omni Foods unveiled 3 NEW products and combined the release with Omni’s launch in Walmart stores! VegOut Magazine partnered with Omni for a giveaway in honor of the news. I was one of the lucky recipients of a $35 Walmart gift card to use toward purchasing each of Omni’s new products!

I used curbside pick-up at my local “super” Walmart and grabbed a bag of plant-based Spring Rolls, Potstickers, Crab Cakes, and Luncheon slices. The luncheon slices are a dupe for “Spam” for which I previously shared a favored review, but the crab cakes and Asian apps are new!

I served in “family-style” fashion with dipping sauces, and sticky rice to share. We were all very impressed with how close to fish the Omni Crab Cakes tasted both in flavor and texture. The cakes have crispy, crumbly breading on the outside and are meaty like jackfruit on the inside. The luncheon meat I served both whole and sliced, as it is tasty when mixed with rice and soy sauce! Omni Luncheon slices are fatty and salty, making a flavorful plant-based replacement for pork.

Our favorites however were the reimagined versions of classic apps, Omni Spring Rolls and Omni Potstickers. The potstickers are made of a thick and comforting dumpling wrapper and filled with Omni pork crumbles, ginger, mushroom, and cabbage. The spring rolls are filled with the same Omni pork crumbles, mixed with cabbage, carrot, and mushroom, and enveloped in a flaky and crunchy wrap. I found the flavor profiles of both to be similar, aside from the zing of ginger in the potstickers.

These vegan apps were easy to prepare and even easier to devour! Keep them in mind for upcoming holiday gatherings or for snacking during the game, they are perfect for pleasing even picky carnivores. Share and show how easy it can be to go veg!
