With over 200 varieties, in over 100 countries and regions, Lee Kum Kee is the leading brand of authentic Asian sauces. While many of their condiments contain animal-derived ingredients, a large selection does not and Lee Kum Kee is expanding their line of vegan-friendly options. Newest in their line-up of reformulated sauces is Lee Kum Kee Sriracha Chili Sauce! Originally Lee Kum Kee flavored their Sriracha with anchovy, but now they have a special formula made with no animal ingredients, that is also certified gluten-free and non-GMO.
I like to add Sriracha to my snacks for an added kick, on breakfast sandwiches to elevate the flavor, and in most of the Asian-inspired dishes I prepare. Unlike other hot sauces, Sriracha is more mild and sweet, with a thicker consistency similar to that of ketchup. Tangy, sweet, and spicy Lee Kum Kee Sriracha is made from: chili peppers, distilled vinegar, sugar, garlic powder, salt, and xanthan gum (what makes the sauce thick).
I used Lee Kum Kee’s new vegan-formulated Sriracha Chili Sauce as inspiration for some Spooky Sriracha Snacks (which you can view on my Instagram) just in time for Halloween. My Spooky Sriracha Snacks include; Sweet ‘n Spicy, Sriracha & Agave Popcorn, Veggie Mummy Roll-Ups with Sriracha Ketchup, and Crispy Green Bean “Witch Fingers” with Sriracha Mayo.
For the Sweet ‘n Spicy, Sriracha & Agave Popcorn, I simply popped popcorn kernels on the stove, let the popcorn cool, and then added equal parts Lee Kum Kee Sriracha and agave nectar (great substitute for honey!). I served in a Jack-o-Lantern bowl as I think it looks a little like creepy braiiiins!
Veggie Mummy Roll-Ups are actually a Halloween tradition for me. I make vegan “weenie roll-ups” often, but for Halloween, I simply cut vegan-friendly crescent dough into strips, and then wrap my veggie hot dog like a mummy! For an added spicy surprise, use Sriracha to make mummy eyeballs and “blood”. I mixed Lee Kum Kee Sriracha with ketchup for dipping.
Last up are some air-fried Crispy Green Bean Witch Fingers! My imagination told me these green beans look like witch fingers, and then I just couldn’t unsee it. While these beans are tasty on their own, they are even better with a vegan-friendly Sriracha Mayo dip! Simply mix Lee Kum Kee Sriracha with vegan mayo, and add more heat to taste.
How would you serve some Spooky Sriracha Snacks? Keep your eyes peeled for the new vegan Sriracha by Lee Kum Kee, as it will be popping up in stores anytime! Our local Walmarts carry this brand regularly. Thanks again to Lee Kum Kee for sending your vegan-formulated Sriracha over for me to try!
