It’s the time of year when the most coveted cookies appear!
It never fails however, that Girl Scout cookie season seems to end by the time I realize it even arrived! This year with the pandemic still in full effect, Girl Scouts are turning to online ordering for their sales and for this, I am so grateful!
The Girl Scout Program is an “all-girl” program that helps girls learn to lead and thrive in their lives, through building relationships and learning life skills. The Girl Scout Leadership Experience helps girls to serve their community, explore science and the outdoors, and of course, entrepreneurship through their Girl Scout Cookie Sales!
Girl Scout cookies are made and sold by two different bakers, “ABC Bakers”, and “Little Brownie Bakers”. Their cookie varieties and ingredients vary slightly, so it is important to take note of which bakery’s cookies you are ordering. Of the two, ABC Bakers has 5 vegan-friendly cookie varieties; Lemonades, Thin Mints, Peanut Butter Patties, S’mores, and new Toast Yay. Little Brownie Bakers only has 1 vegan-friendly cookie, but it is by far the most popular: Thin Mints. They have made it easier than ever to determine which cookie is vegan, however, as they have begun to label them “made with vegan ingredients” on their website!
I purchased the cookie treat gift box set, and included all 5 of the vegan-friendly options from ABC Bakers;
Lemonades- Soft shortbread with a bright, citrus icing.
Thin Mints- A chocolate wafer, dipped in chocolate fudge, with a hint of mint.
Peanut Butter Patties- Chocolately fudge coats a peanut butter-topped, crispy cookie.
S’mores- A graham cracker double-dipped in marshmallow creme, and covered in chocolate.
Toast Yay- Cinnamon shortbread, lightly dipped in maple icing.
You can place your order for direct shipping online, or even locate a convenient same-day GrubHub delivery time near you at girlscouts.org!
I believe that when placing your order online for direct shipping, you will automatically have your cookies shipped from the closest bakery distribution center to you. In our area that is always ABC Bakers. You can determine if the cookie choices in your cart are vegan, by clicking the nutrition facts of each cookie option listed or by the “made with vegan ingredients” label. I encourage you to take advantage of the direct ship option while we have it! I hope it is a new regular feature for Girl Scout cookie seasons to come!
