Holy Macaroni, Batman! National store brand O Organics recently released their newest line of vegan fare, with the addition of Vegan Mac. Available in traditional and gluten-free varieties, this vegan mac is organic and made with pea protein for a filling meal or side dish. I found mine at our local Safeway!

This is BY FAR the best boxed vegan mac I have tried. The firm and chewy texture of the organic elbow pasta, combined with the creaminess of the non-dairy cheese sauce is unbeaten. Frankly, I am impressed. This is a STORE BRAND, and incomparable to the others I have found. This is the cheesiest vegan macaroni and cheese I have tried as well. This tastes like a regular macaroni and cheese packet and I don’t understand how, but yay science! To make, you mix the packet with a 1/3 cup of dairy-free milk, and 2 Tablespoons vegan-friendly butter. Standard practice, delicious results.

This macaroni and “cheese” reminds me of the sides I used to eat as a kid from KFC. BV (Before Vegan) I used to fiend on the sides at KFC (Kentucky Fired Cruelty). One bite instantly transported me to the passenger seat, eating my mac hot on the car ride home. However, this macaroni could easily be served cold at a BBQ, alongside veggie kabobs and plant-based burgers.

I am stoked Safeway is upping its plant-based inventory. From non-dairy ice cream and milks, to meatless crumbles and patties, their products are of high quality and standard.
