Unbeknownst to us, Pizza Guys was doing the Impossible, and adding plant-based sausage to their menu in a partnership with Impossible Foods.

My omni family often orders from the Pizza Guys, as their specials can’t be beat and the service is always fast and friendly. I do not typically order along with them, but with the recent addition of Impossible Beef, I had to take an opportunity to try!

Two Impossible Foods Pizzas were added to the Pizza Guys Menu come the new year; Impossible Beef BBQ, and Impossible Artichoke Pesto. Of the two, the BBQ can be ordered vegan when it is made with no cheese, and on Gluten Free Crust.

While the traditional crust varieties at this establishment contain dairy (Original. Thick, Thin), their Gluten Free crust recipe is one of the future, as it is free of both dairy and egg! The ingredients lists for the crust and sauce choices are not listed anywhere online, so I did have to do some back and forth with their Customer Service team, but I am able to confirm that the Gluten Free Crust, Signature Red Tomato Sauce, BBQ Sauce, and Kogi Serrano Chili Sauce are vegan-friendly. ( I have listed the ingredients that I received directly from Pizza Guys, at the bottom of the page)*

I ordered a Medium Gluten-Free Impossible Beef BBQ Pizza, with no cheese. The pizza was topped with sliced red onions, and Impossible Beef, then heavily drizzled with Cattlemens®️ Spicy BBQ Sauce. The BBQ sauce provides just a kick of heat, that elevates each bite. I found this pizza to be light and filling, without the guilt. I think the red onions really provide a nice bite and balance to the sauce, and overall the pizza really lets the Impossible Sausage shine. The crust reminds me of a flatbread pizza I might order without cheese at a fancy restaurant; crisp but pillowy, and slightly sweet. I really enjoyed my pizza, and will absolutely be ordering again.

Pizza Guys is actually based out of Sacramento, CA! That is VERY close to our neck of the woods, so I bet we could have some say-so in their addition of future plant-based options like, say, a dairy-free cheese? In the meantime do your taste-buds a favor, and order an Impossible Gluten Free Pizza from Pizza Guys to support their venture into plant-based options!

Impossible Pizzas are available “throughout California, Oregon, and Nevada” according to Restaurants.com. I ordered mine from my nearest local shop, in Modesto. You can add Impossible Beef to any pizza on their menu, or by creating your own. Please note however, that all Gluten Free Pizzas from Pizza Guys are medium sized, at this time.
