Turn That Frown Upside Down Because Mr.Charlie’s Told Me So: An Exhibition of Plants

Mr.Charlie’s wants to redefine fast food. With a bold marketing strategy and fun take on plant-based eating, Mr. Charlie’s is doing just that. Mr. Charlie’s is an “exhibition of plants”, bringing plant-based food to communities in a fun and meaningful way. A vegan doppelganger for McDonald’s, Mr. Charlie’s employs those looking for a second chance in partnership with the Dream Center– a resource for those experiencing homelessness, addiction, or incarceration.

Mr. Charlies Told Me So has a simple plant-based menu: Not Hamburgers, Not Cheeseburgers, Not Chicken Sandwiches, Not Chicken Nuggets, Fries, and my favorite- Frowny Meals. I wanted to try one of each item, so I ordered a Frowny Meal with a Not Cheeseburger and a Not a Chicken Sandwich on the side. My Frowny Meal came with an Impossible Cheeseburger, 4 vegan nuggets, fries, and a bottle of classic Coca-Cola.

My tastebuds lit up at the first bite of my Not Cheeseburger! This was the traditional burger I remember from my youth, but with vegan cheese and Impossible meat. My mind is blown every time this happens! Juicy and topped with pickles, onion, mustard, and ketchup, I am still savoring this moment in my head! As for the nuggets and fries- tasty, salty, and satisfying! Absolutely anyone would be delighted with a Frowny Meal, vegan or not, as it is delicious and silly!

I loved the Not a Chicken Sandwich! Fluffy bread and crispy plant-based chicken, topped with vegan mayo and crispy lettuce! The chicken patty was juicy on the inside and crispy on the outside. A simple fast food staple made vegan and fun! (Did you see the sticker? LOL)

While Hollywood may be a trek, I have some exciting news! San Francisco will be home to a NEW Mr. Charlie’s TMS location in the next couple of months! We were told this surprise news upon our visit, and I can’t wait to have a closer location to visit in the near future! Will you be stopping in?
