Happy Valentine’s Day with Maple Modesto Macarons
Happy Valentine’s Day! I absolutely love Valentine’s Day and the season of LOVE! This year I decided to treat myself as I would a valentine, and this way I did not feel guilty. I express love through gifts, so this was fairly easy for me to take part in. If you know me personally, you know I do not typically have a hard time treating myself in general but this holiday feels different. I started by ordering something sweet, added a floral something, and picked up a stuffie I was eyeing.
I ordered a dozen luxury, vegan, and gluten-free French Macarons from Maple Modesto and selected the “valentine” assortment, so I was not sure which flavors to expect. I like surprises when I can control them, so this was fun! I was excited to find the flavors included were; Red Velvet Cake, Fresh Blueberry Cardamom Jam, and Salted Caramel with Cream Cheese. I have to say without a doubt, that the Blueberry Cardamom was my favorite. However, the housemade vegan caramel sauce is also to die for. I could eat that by the jug!
Without giving away too much of the flavor components, as these should be EXPERIENCED rather than just indulged in, each flavor is lightly sweet with soft buttercream/meringue/jam sandwiched between melty and marshmallowy cookies. Rebecca also does an incredible job hand-detailing each macaron. The love and thoughtfulness placed in each cookie is unmistakable. Edible gold leaf, vegan sprinkles, cosmic dust, each cookie is beautifully presented and stands alone as mini works of art. These were actually my first full-sized macarons, even pre-veg! I previously tasted a mini french macron from Maple Modesto and knew I needed to try more! I have heard others rave that you would never know these macarons were vegan and I am keen on believing them.
