The Pho? Uh, YEA! Vegan pho is now available at the newest Vietnamese restaurant in Modesto, The Pho!

I am obsessed with the name of this place because if you didn’t already know, “pho” is produced like, “fuh”, and this is pho-king funny. Clean, sleek, and modern, The Pho has plenty of seating and is located in the new Savemart shopping center, off of Oakdale Road. The Pho opened just last month, but they began advertising online well before their soft opening. I inquired immediately about the possibility of vegan pho but was told it would not be available until after their initial opening.

Less than a month after opening, The Pho has launched a completely vegan pho that is packed with vegan-friendly meatballs, sliced ham, steak slices, and even breaded tofu. Their broth is completely plant-based, made from mushrooms, and packs a bold umami flavor with slight heat. Loaded with rice noodles, this pho is served with the traditional side of bean sprouts, Thai basil, sliced jalapeno, and lime, so you can season your soup to taste. The Pho spent months of trial and error with different brands to perfect this soup, and I can assure you won’t be disappointed.

In addition to vegan pho, The Pho has also included vegan spring rolls on their menu. Layers of lettuce, rice noodles, carrot, cucumber, tofu, and vegan steak slices are wrapped in a rice paper wrapper to make the most dressed-up spring roll I’ve had locally. Served with vegan peanut dipping sauce, this is a great appetizer, side dish, or snack! I got two orders, because I knew they’d be a hit!

The Pho is open for dining, take-out, DoorDash and GrubHub delivery Wednesday-Monday from 10AM-8PM (closed Tuesdays). The vegan items are not yet listed on the DoorDash or GrubHub menus, but will be soon. In the meantime, The Pho advised we can add traditional pho and spring rolls to our DoorDash order, then make a note in the comments that we want it “made vegan”.
