Happy National Ice Cream Day! How did you celebrate? I inadvertently ordered a vegan Ice Cream Cake for today “just becuase”, and it ended up being just the perfect day!
Ice Cream Company offers Ice Cream Cakes in all of their rotating in-house flavors, and even have a couple seasonal varieties, of which one is vegan! My cake came in the current vegan seasonal flavor; Peppermint Cookie Crumble.
Served fresh from the freezer, the fireplace provided just enough warmth to thaw and slice. Ice cream is by far my favorite dessert, so the frozen treat’s take on a holiday flavor is right up my alley. The base of the cake is a thin Oreo cookie crust. Topped with ice cream in the shop’s usual vegan flavor- chocolate cookie crumble, but with a seasonal twist of peppermint. Creamy and smooth chocolate ice cream, with chunks of oreo cookies, and cooling peppermint, the dessert is delectably refreshing.
My sister compared it to a Peppermint Mocha, which I think is an excellent comparison, albeit the mocha version is much more rich than its ice cream counterpart. This is a chocolate ice cream, even people who claim they don’t like chocolate will enjoy (like as if they even really exist!).
Make it a special day with a locally made ice cream cake, available via preorder for just $19.99 at IceCreamCompany.org The Ice Cream Company is open for curb-side pick-up, and you can place orders in advance on their website. Don’t forget that the Ice Cream Company & Grill, is also just that, a grill! They offer veggie wraps and salads that are vegan-friendly as well, so don’t count them out for your workday lunch.
The Ice Cream Co. is additionally a non-profit called “Enrich & Employ”, training those with barriers to employment. They train in a working restaurant for real-world experience. Their clients include; those with disabilities, people learning English, and those who have been through recovery.
