Where do cows go on dates?
To the MOO-vies! Or at least they would, if they could!
I have missed the movies so much! Last night I had the opportunity to attend a screening of “Poltergeist” (1982) at the Ceres Cruise-in! Let me tell ya, I am a fan of getting to watch a classic film, from the comfort of my own vehicle. I was prone to social distancing before it was the norm, so the cruise-in is a great fit for me!
I won a ticket to see “Poltergeist” from local radio station, KHOP 95.1. I enjoy Madden and Riley’s morning show on Facebook, and happened to answer a trivia question correctly last week. (Yay Google!) I told them I would report back on my experience, and wanted to also use the trip to share any vegan-friendly concessions!
You may not know this, but LUCKILY most movie theatre “butter” is non-dairy. This was and is currently the case for the popcorn at Ceres Cruise-in! I asked to see the ingredients list for the popping oil/topping used on their popcorn, and am happy to report that it is dairy-free! The popping oil consists of the following ingredients; Peanut Oil, Beta Cartotene, and Artifical Butter Flavor. Is the popcorn oil healthy? No. Is it vegan-friendly? Yes. (Not concerned with the former thanks, so don’t @ me)
In addition to the popcorn (truly my reason for attending ANY movie at a theatre, rather than watching something at home) there are some other vegan finds at the snack bar. I selected Sour Patch Kids, but they also stock Skittles! If you wanna be “healthier” they also have snack packs of nuts (roasted/salted); Peanuts, Almonds, and Cashews. Bottled Water and an assortment of canned sodas by both Pepsi Co. and Coca-Cola are the current beverage options. The Cruise-in just re-opened last month, so I have high hopes for fountain sodas and a large assortment of stocked snacks in the future!
If you’re planning to attend, movies start just after dusk and sometimes include a double feature! You can check out their calendar of upcoming movie showings, purchase tickets, and find additional information at their website: cerescruisein.com
I had a lot of fun, and look forward to attending again! What movies would you like to see at the cruise-in? I’d love to see some classic Hitchcock flicks!
