We did it! We made it to the “ERs”!
My most favorite time of year! With it comes pumpkin spice and the age old question of “naughty or nice”. I love the season most for it’s FOOD! I am all about seasonal treats, and baked goods! I started my first morning of FALL with vegan cinnamon pancakes and Maple Modesto’s Pumpkin Spice Chai Syrup! I’m so basic and I love ittt!
Maple Modesto started out as a Pop-Up Waffle Catering Service, that offered a Gluten Free and Vegan waffle option. Their waffles are still available for special events and catering, but their business has shifted to now include tea blends, alternative milk teas, baked goods, and homeopathic remedies. Watching their business grow and adapt over this last year has been so inspiring, and I’ve wanted to try their vegan goodies for some time!
For my Maple Modesto haul, I ordered the Pumpkin Spice Chai Syrup, a dozen plant-based Cinnamon Rolls, Vegan Lemon Lavender Cake, Angel Milk and Black Matcha Milk.
I topped my pancakes this morning with Pumpkin Spice Chai syrup and it was perfectly bold and spicy! I can’t wait to use this syrup in other ways throughout the month! I think I might also use it on my cinnamon rolls to make them extra sweet and extra festive. If Pumpkin Spice is not your jam, Maple Modesto offers a variety of specialty syrups that are vegan-friendly as is, or have a listed modification option to be made Vegan! 🌱
I’ve never actually had vegan cinnamon rolls that were not from a can, so treating myself to Maple Modesto’s was in order. I’d say two rolls is the equivalent of a standard-size cinnamon roll. The rolls are decadent and lightly sweet, allowing for the flavor of cinnamon to stand alone. I wrapped and froze my remaining rolls and have been heating and eating them throughout the week.
The Lemon Lavender cake may be one of the best cakes I’ve tasted. The bright lemon flavor is delicately balanced by the lavender flower, but the burst of lemon still remains with each bite. I shared this cake with several loved ones, and they all agreed it was delicious! (I can’t wait to try her chai cake now, because this one was TO DIE FOR)
Lastly, I tried two alternative milk teas, each with a different house-made plant milk! “Angel Milk” was my favorite, as it reduced the inflammation on my tongue, caused by speed-eating pizza that was just out of the oven. Whoops! The Angel Milk is made with Lavender Tea, Indonesian Vanilla Bean and the alternative milk of your choice (I chose OAT). The Milk Teas are unsweetened, so the powerful flavors of the steeped tea really shine. The second milk tea I tried was “Black Velvet”. Made with Black Matcha, Chai and alternative milk (I chose HEMP). I chose this variety because it sounded spooky and spicy, both of which were enticing! The spice of the milk tea was subtle, but provided a nice kick after each swig. In the end I feel like I chose the softer and bolder of the milk teas, and in an attempt to preview the variance of flavors, found my favorites right off the bat! All of the milk teas are vegan when made with alternative milk. None of the tea blends contain honey!
